I’ve always loved Christmas.
As a child, I loved trimming the tree while listening to Christmas music. Of course, we’d leave milk and cookies for Santa, and on Christmas morning, open gifts in our pajamas. Of course, getting lots of toys helped the joy, too.
Now, as an adult, I love the holiday for different reasons. I enjoy celebrating with family and friends. Most of all, I love that it provides an opportunity to stop and reflect on what the current year brought and what I hope the future year brings.
If you’re hoping that the new year brings with it a new love and relationship, what better way to prepare than to stop and acknowledge and reflect?
Here are three ways you can jumpstart your love life in 2018:
1 – Remember the good times.
Stop and get present to all of the wonderful experiences you’ve had in past relationships. Not only will this make you feel good, it will remind you that you are capable of having such happiness in a relationship (even if you don’t right now).
2 – Accept what is now.
Is there one you think “got away”? That if only you had done X or Y differently that relationship would have stuck? Allow yourself to be present to what is right now, which is that relationship is no longer here. And trust that it only made way for something better.
3 – Envision the future.
You’ve visited the past and present, now it’s time to imagine the future. What does your ideal relationship feel like? What do you like to do together? Where would you like to live? How do you see your relationship working?
